Philanthropy

A major purpose of the Club is to help needy women and children both internationally and locally. Every year the club organizes charity events.  The IWC´s charity events receive kind and generous support from members, embassies and many companies both Swedish and international. The benefiting charities are carefully chosen by the IWC’s Executive Board.

Jontefonden

IWC has decided that this year's fundraising will go towards supporting the organisation Jontefonden Foundation.

According to statistics, one person in Sweden dies every week waiting for an organ transplant. This includes both adults and children. Jontefonden supports the children and youth who are waiting for or have gone through an organ transplantation. It was established by the Ivarsson family when their son Jonathan waited for new lungs due to pulmonary fibrosis. After waiting many years, the transplantation finally took place, but failed. Jonathan was in palliative care until he passed away.

The children supported by Jontefonden are very lonely children who often can neither go to school nor play with other children. Jontefonden supports them and their families while waiting for a transplant. They offer families relief in the form of a vacation or something similar, as well as provide equipment to hospitals. They also help create networks between affected families to help support them in their everyday, tough life. Even after a transplant, these children have a difficult time. They don’t dare show their scars, and they cannot go back to a “normal” life since they never experienced one. Finally, Jontefonden provides support for palliative care and post-transplant recovery, areas that are still in great need of resources.

This foundation is the right size for IWC. Any funds raised will not be used for administration. IWC can make a difference, and we shall do it.
